Group classes are 55-minute weekly blocks focused on a single skill, Monday to Saturday between 3:30pm and 9:25pm. Tutoring and one-to-one sessions are booked by appointment, from 12:30pm. All prices exclude HST.

Our space
A 3,000 sq ft centre on Kerr Street, Oakville — previously an autism centre, with a sensory regulation room, a movement studio, an academic room, and quiet spaces a child can step out to and come back from.
How it works
We keep it light enough to respect how much families already carry, and thorough enough that your child walks into the right room.
Call, email, or use the contact form and tell us which class caught your eye. We follow up with the current timetable and availability.
A short conversation with our Centre Manager. You tell us about your child; we tell you exactly how the class runs.
Your child sits in on a session. Low-demand, no pressure to join in — just a chance to feel the room.
We finalise registration for the term, confirm your weekly time slot, and introduce you to the instructor.
Who teaches
Every staff member completes a Vulnerable Sector Check, current Standard First Aid & CPR-C, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training, and mandatory reporter training under the CYFSA before they teach a single class.
A formal diagnosis is not required to enrol. We get to know your child as a whole person, not through assessments and paperwork.
We hold a limited number of subsidised and sliding-scale places. Tell us in your inquiry and we will try to find a way to make it work, or connect you with funding you may not know about.
All fees are private pay and exclude HST. We provide detailed receipts for every class and session, so you have what you need if you are claiming against a plan or funding agreement. Check with your provider about what it covers.
Every family starts with a free call so we can hear what your child is into and point you at the class that fits.
Our classes
Each class is a 55-minute block on a fixed weekly schedule, focuses on one skill, and is taught by qualified staff. Participants enrol by the term and take up to three classes a week. Tutoring and one-to-one sessions are booked separately, further down this page.

A maximum of four children, with the shortest attention demands and the most hands-on support.

A maximum of four children. Longer projects, more independence, and skills that carry between weeks.

A maximum of four children, pitched at the pre-teen end, with content that does not talk down to them.

One participant with one instructor, working on a single skill or goal you choose together. Booked by the hour, Monday to Saturday between 12:30pm and 3:25pm.
One-to-one time is booked by the hour and does not require a term enrolment, and enrolling in a class does not include it. A good fit for participants who would rather start outside a group, or who want focused time on one thing.

Class size: a maximum of four participants in every class, across all age groups — we never exceed a 1:4 ratio. Age groups are set by date of birth. Individual sessions and tutoring are available Monday to Saturday, 12:30pm to 3:25pm, by appointment. Taekwondo runs Tuesdays and Thursdays — Cubs at 4:30pm, Explorers at 5:30pm, and Navigators at 6:30pm.

All fees are per participant and exclude HST, which is added at checkout. Group classes run on a term basis, and places are confirmed on receipt of a completed registration form. Fees are current as of August 2026 and subject to change.

The discount is a reduction on each class, so it applies whatever mix you choose. Teen Skills Club classes are $58 at the single rate, $54 each on the two-class plan, and $51 each on the three-class plan. So a teen taking two Teen Skills Club classes pays $54 + $54 = $108 a week.

Once your child is enrolled in a weekly class, one-to-one tutoring with our Ontario Certified Teacher drops to $78 an hour. Small group tutoring stays $50 per student.
Three classes a week suits some children and overwhelms others. We would rather a child came once a week for a year than three times a week for a month. If you are not sure, start with one and build up — the plan can change between terms, and we will tell you honestly what we are seeing in the room.
Registration and appointments are handled through our online booking system. Participants take up to three group classes a week, and age bands are set by date of birth. If a class is full, families are added to the waitlist by date of first inquiry.

About BluBear
BluBear Child and Youth Development Centre was founded on one conviction: children with neurodevelopmental differences deserve programming that starts with their strengths, not their deficits.
Our team holds qualifications in Child and Youth Care, Social Services, Community Social Work, and Ontario-certified teaching. We bring specialised training in autism and trauma-informed practice to every class we teach.
We operate from a 3,000 sq ft dedicated facility in Oakville, previously an autism centre, purpose-built with a sensory regulation room, flexible class spaces, and the kind of environment where neurodivergent children actually feel safe.

Centre Manager
Over 8 years supporting children and youth with complex needs including ASD at all levels, trauma, mental health, and concurrent disorders. Lina brings structured warmth and a deeply neurodiversity-affirming approach to every aspect of BluBear's programming.
Youth Classes Lead
Julian brings experience across child and youth care, social services, forensic mental health, education, and community case management. She teaches our older youth classes, with a focus on regulation skills, life skills, connection, and practical coping strategies.
Educational Support Specialist · School Liaison
Our Educational Support Specialist is an Ontario Certified Teacher with classroom experience and a strong foundation in inclusive education. She supports neurodivergent learners, students with IEPs, and families navigating school communication, learning goals, and parent partnership.
Child and Youth Support Worker
Mona brings a background in psychology and criminology, specialised behavioural support training, and extensive direct experience with children and youth with complex needs, severe autism, mental health concerns, and trauma. Her work is grounded in structure, routine, safety, and warm connection.
Senior Child and Youth Support Worker
Khuram brings more than 25 years of experience in the child and youth work field, with a strong background in sociology, behavioural support, de-escalation, and relationship-based care. He supports children and youth through calm, consistent, and strengths-based programming.

Yes. A formal diagnosis is not required for enrolment. We get to know your child as a whole person, not just through assessments, diagnoses, or paperwork. If your child has been struggling and has not yet received a diagnosis, that does not disqualify them.
Our classes are open to children and youth ages 5–18, in five groups: Cubs (5–7), Explorers (8–10), Navigators (11–12), Teens (13–15), and Senior Teens (16–18). Groups are set by date of birth. Music & Movement, Creative Arts, Active Play and Taekwondo run for Cubs, Explorers and Navigators. Teens take Life Skills and Social Club; Employment Readiness is for Senior Teens only. Tutoring and one-to-one sessions are open to every age. Children must be toilet trained to enrol.
Each class is a 55-minute block that meets once a week, at the same time, on the same day, for the length of the term. A class teaches one skill: Music & Movement teaches rhythm and coordination, Creative Arts teaches drawing and making, Active Play teaches movement and coordination, and so on.
Participants take up to three classes a week, subject to what their age group's timetable offers. Classes run Monday to Saturday between 3:30pm and 9:25pm, and tutoring and individual sessions are available by appointment between 12:30pm and 3:25pm. We are not a drop-off day program, and we do not run all-day or supervised-care sessions.
Group classes are $52 per 55-minute class, or $58 for the Teen Skills Club. Taekwondo is $52. Tutoring is $88 an hour one-to-one, or $50 per student in a group of up to three. One-to-one sessions are $90 an hour.
The per-class rate drops the more classes you take in a week: $52 for one, $48 each for two ($96 a week), and $45 each for three ($135 a week). Teen Skills Club classes follow the same steps from $58. All prices exclude HST, which is added at checkout. Group classes are billed on a term basis. Up to three a week. Those can be three different classes or the same class more than once, depending on what the timetable allows for their age group.

Within what the timetable offers, yes. Each class runs at fixed times for specific age groups, so the options depend on your child's group. The weekly schedule shows every block and can be filtered by age group. Tell us which slots work and we will find the closest fit.
Yes, wherever possible. Each class has a consistent instructor and a consistent group of children week to week. Learning a skill takes trust in the person teaching it, so stable staffing is core to how we run classes rather than a nice-to-have.
Our staff are trained in non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) and follow a de-escalation-first approach. We never use exclusionary timeout, restraint, or punitive approaches. A child who is overwhelmed can step out of the class to a calm, sensory-friendly space with a staff member and rejoin when they are ready. If something significant happens, you will hear about it before pickup, and it is documented.
Everything we offer is private pay. What a funding agreement or plan covers is decided by your provider, not by us, so please confirm directly with them before booking. We provide detailed receipts for every class and session either way, so you have what you need to make a claim.
We no longer offer one-to-one respite or supervised care of any kind. Everything we run is an enrolled, scheduled class taught by an instructor, and families stay responsible for drop-off and pickup around each class. If respite is what you need, tell us and we'll point you toward organisations in Halton that provide it.
Extended health plans do not usually cover skill-based classes such as art, music, or movement. We provide detailed receipts either way. Call your insurer before booking, tell them precisely which service you are asking about, and ask what documentation they need.
We understand that families of children with complex needs often carry significant financial burden. We have a limited number of subsidised and sliding scale spots available. If cost is a barrier, tell us in your inquiry — we will always try to find a way to make it work or connect you with funding you may not know about.
Usually a week or two, depending on where we are in the term. It is a short call, a chance for your child to sit in on the class, and a registration form. If a class has space and you are ready, it can move faster than that.
All BluBear staff hold diplomas or degrees in Child and Youth Care, Social Services, or related fields, and academic and learning support is designed and delivered by an Ontario Certified Teacher. Every staff member completes a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), current Standard First Aid + CPR-C, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training, and mandatory reporter training under the CYFSA before their first shift. Nothing formal is required. If you have an IEP or a report you'd like to share so the instructor knows what helps, you're welcome to, but we will never require documentation to register. You bring your knowledge of your child; we'll bring ours of the class.

BluBear Child and Youth Development Centre (“BluBear,” “we,” “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of children and families who interact with our services. This policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy legislation.
We collect personal information necessary to deliver our classes and communicate with families. This includes:
Personal information is collected to: determine which class is a good fit for your child; deliver that class safely and well; communicate with families about how it is going; process class fees; comply with legal obligations including mandatory reporting under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017; and maintain records required for safety, insurance, and regulatory purposes.
We do not sell personal information. We share information only: with staff directly involved in your child’s programming; with your written consent (e.g. with schools or external providers); when required by law, including mandatory reporting obligations; and with service providers who support our operations (e.g. secure cloud storage) under strict confidentiality terms. We also share limited website activity data with the advertising and analytics platforms described in section 6. Those platforms never receive information from a registration or client file.
Records are stored in password-protected systems with access restricted by role. Physical records are kept in locked filing at our Oakville facility. Staff are trained on confidentiality obligations before beginning work. Client files are retained for a minimum of 7 years from last contact, or until the child turns 25, whichever is later.
Information submitted through our contact form is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and used only to respond to your inquiry. Form submissions are processed and temporarily stored by Formspree, a third-party form-handling service whose servers are located in the United States, which means the information you submit is transferred to and stored outside of Canada and may be subject to access by U.S. authorities under applicable law. Inquiry submissions are retained only as long as needed to respond and are then deleted. Our use of cookies, analytics, and advertising technologies is described in section 6.
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including tracking pixels placed by third-party platforms. They fall into three categories:
These analytics and marketing tools may set cookies or use similar identifiers to record which pages you visited, actions you took on the site (such as beginning an inquiry form), your approximate location, and technical details about your device and browser. That information is shared with the platform concerned and processed on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, under each platform’s own privacy policy and terms.
We do not share your child’s name, date of birth, diagnosis or presenting profile, medical information, class notes, or any other information from a registration or client file with these platforms. These cookies collect website activity only.
Our advertising is directed at parents, guardians, and caregivers. We do not use marketing cookies to target advertising to children.
You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can adjust ad personalisation in your Facebook, Instagram, Google, and TikTok account settings. Google also offers a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking analytics or marketing cookies does not affect your ability to browse this site or to contact us.

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the BluBear Child and Youth Development Centre website (www.blubear.ca) and the services provided by BluBear Child and Youth Development Centre (“BluBear,” “we,” “us,” “our”), located at 323 Kerr St, Oakville, Ontario. By accessing our website or enrolling in our programs, you agree to these Terms.
BluBear provides enrolled, skill-focused classes for children and youth ages 5–18. Our current group classes are Music & Movement, Creative Arts, and Active Play, together with the Teen Skills Club (comprising Life Skills, Social Club, and Employment Readiness) and Taekwondo. Music & Movement, Creative Arts, Active Play and Taekwondo are offered to participants aged 5–12. We also offer tutoring delivered by an Ontario Certified Teacher and one-to-one instructional sessions booked by the hour. Each class is a 55-minute block running on a fixed weekly schedule for a defined term, and each participant may enrol in up to three classes per week. Individual sessions are available by appointment. BluBear does not provide child care, supervised care, or respite services, and families remain responsible for their child outside scheduled class times. Class availability, scheduling, and pricing are subject to change, and we reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any class with reasonable notice to enrolled families.
Classes are available to children and youth ages 5–18, grouped by date of birth into Cubs (5–7), Explorers (8–10), Navigators (11–12), Teens (13–15), and Senior Teens (16–18). The Teen Skills Club is limited to participants aged 13–18: its Life Skills and Social Club streams are limited to participants aged 13–15, and its Employment Readiness stream is limited to participants aged 16–18. Children must be toilet trained to enroll. Registration is subject to a goodness-of-fit conversation. BluBear reserves the right to decline or discontinue enrollment where a child’s support needs fall outside what a class of this size and format can reasonably provide, or where the safety of the child, other participants, or staff cannot be reasonably maintained.
Fees are published on our website and outlined in your registration agreement, and are due on the schedule specified there. All published fees exclude HST, which is applied at checkout. Fees are subject to change. Late payments may result in suspension of enrollment. Subsidized rates are available at BluBear’s discretion. Fees paid are non-refundable except where BluBear cancels a class. Families are responsible for understanding and managing any government funding or insurance claims of their own, and BluBear makes no representation that any particular class is eligible for funding or reimbursement.
Families must provide a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to cancel a scheduled class. Classes cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged at the full rate. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may result in review of enrollment. Families wishing to withdraw from a class must provide 2 weeks’ written notice to support@blubear.ca.
Children must be picked up at the end of their scheduled class. BluBear does not provide supervision before or after class times. Late pickups beyond 15 minutes may incur an additional fee as specified in your registration agreement, and repeated late pickups may be grounds for review of enrollment.
Families must disclose all relevant medical information, allergies, and medications at registration and promptly notify BluBear of any changes. Children who are ill (fever, vomiting, or contagious illness) must not attend and will be asked to be picked up. BluBear maintains an anaphylaxis protocol and first aid coverage during all classes. All staff hold current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
No photographs or video recordings of children will be taken or shared without explicit written consent from a parent or guardian. Media consent is collected separately at registration and may be withdrawn at any time in writing.
BluBear will take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children attending our classes. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Ontario law, BluBear shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from participation in our classes. Our total liability to any family shall not exceed the fees paid for the term in question.
All BluBear staff are mandatory reporters under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017. Staff are legally required to report any reasonable suspicion of child abuse or neglect directly to the Children’s Aid Society, regardless of the source of the concern. This obligation cannot be superseded by any instruction from a parent, guardian, or supervisor.
